Asbestos is a group of minerals with thin microscopic fibers. Because these fibers are resistant to heat, fire, and chemicals and do not conduct electricity, asbestos has been mined and used widely in the construction, automotive, and other industries.

If products containing asbestos are disturbed, the tiny fibers are released into the air. When they are breathed in, they can become trapped in the lungs and stay there for many years. Over time these fibers can accumulate and lead to serious health problems.

Where is it found?

Asbestos can be present in a wide range of materials including (but not limited to):

  • Joint Compound (Drywall)
  • Spackling Compound (Stipple Ceiling)
  • Vinyl Sheet Flooring
  • Floor Tile/Ceiling Tile
  • Pipe Insulation
  • Chalkboards

  • Vinyl Wall Coverings

  • Roofing Shingles and Felt
  • Fireproofing Materials

How to test for its presence

As asbestos mediation and abatement specialists, we work with our clients to conduct tests for the presence of asbestos by collecting several small samples of the material for processing at an off-site laboratory.

Asbestos containing materials must be treated in accordance with the government regulations when disturbed.

As certified asbestos mediation and abatement specialists, we work with clients to remove asbestos from buildings and various other sites.

If for any reason asbestos is found to be present, and the intention is to disturb the area it is in (for whatever reason – be it renovations, tear down, or anything else), then it is best to call a certified specialist to have it safely removed and disposed of under strict guidelines.

When asbestos is disturbed, it’s quite dangerous to be around. Microscopic particles get disbursed into the air, and can be accidentally inhaled.

We, at RAWK J Services will ensure all strict guidelines are met in the removal including (but not limited to):

  • removal
  • encapsulation
  • cleaning
  • HEPA filtered negative pressure enclosures
  • demolition
  • consulting
  • cost analysis
  • As certified asbestos remediation and abatement specialists, we at RAWK J Services, pride ourselves in helping our customers test for its presence, remove it (if present) and dispose of it safely.
